FAQ

Q: What kind of material is the iCheck Magnum made out of, and is it durable?

A: The iCheck line of check valves is machined out of an engineered plastic that was specially chosen to withstand operating temperatures up to 180 degF and a wide range of corrosive chemicals encountered in a carwash environment. pH ranges of 2-13 were tested for a period of more than four years in an actual high volume carwash with no degradation. The iCheck Magnum has also been tested to operate at pressures as indicated on the valve body, with at least a 50% safety factor. Follow the installation instructions carefully; since the pipe threads are also plastic, they can be prone to stripping if overtightened or cross- threaded.

Q:  What is different about the Low pH / Acid version of the iCheck Magnum?  How do I know if the valve I have is this version?

A:  The Low pH / Acid version of the iCheck Magnum is for use on a dedicated Low pH / Acid soap line.  While all iChecks are acid resistant, we have found certain low pH chemicals react differently on check valve components.  This is exacerbated by the constant presence of low pH soap on the inlet side of the check valve before the poppet.  If you are buying a check valve for the low pH soap line, order the low pH version.  This check valve is clearly marked “Low pH / Acid” on the valve body, and is Gray in color instead of Black.

Q. Why is the iCheck Magnum so expensive? I can buy other check valves for a lot less.

A. Before we invented the iCheck, we tried virtually every high pressure check valve on the market. In an automatic car wash environment, the inexpensive check valves  either brass or stainless steel, lasted from one week to six months -- broken springs, dislodged o-rings, or broken fasteners were the failure points.  We have personally tested other similarly priced check valves and they simply don't last as long.
The iCheck Magnum's long life is a tremendous value. Ultra High Reliability reduces your cost of frequently replacing check valves, and gives you peace of mind knowing your wash quality is not being compromised. See the customer testimonials for real life examples of how iCheck Magnum provides value well in line with its price.

Q: Do the threads have to be treated differently than stainless?

A: Since the body material is an engineered plastic, the threads are much softer than brass or stainless steel. Fittings will not take as much force as stainless or brass to completely seal, so use care when installing fittings. Use at least 5 tight wraps of teflon tape AND teflon- based sealant on all male threads to ensure proper seal and protect threads during installation
